about

Live at KIPL documents a live performance recorded 29 January 2011 in a hard surface/high ceiling space in West Melbourne. Nomex is the pseudonym of current New Zealand resident Paul Kidd, under which he has been performing and releasing audio and video works for many years. This invigorating aktion was centered on a tightly controlled exploration of acoustic feedback utilising contact microphone, amplifier and loudspeakers. Composed of resonant frequencies, room acoustics, and directional pick-up/emission patterns, this work is assuredly ecstatic, virulent and glorious. Mastered for cassette by Marcus Cook at the Shogun Lodge, and released in an edition of 50 (SBBCS008) to coincide with Nomex’s performance at the 2011 Melbourne edition of the International Noise Conference hosted by Sabbatical.
